Classic crime stories set in changing provincial Britain between the wars – featuring the charmingly relentless Inspector William Meredith and his trainee, Detective Constable John Rawlings

Each episode sees the 1930’s railway poster world of majestic mountain landscapes, sleepy seaside towns and rural tranquility exposed and disturbed by murder. Every shocking crime brings our young Metropolitan Police detectives by rattling steam train to the aid of a baffled local force.

From the rugged White Cliffs or the English Riviera to the dramatic Northern Lakes, in each case Meredith must hit the rails, meet the natives, unravel a complex, brutal murder and catch a killer.
